Engaging Reading Websites:
Storyline Online is one of my favorite read-aloud websites. They offer a large selection of story books read by favorite actors. Students can hear great examples of fluency as they listen to these engaging stories. This site is free, which makes it even better.

Roy the Zebra is a website with educational games. Although, it does have advertisements that come to encourage you to buy a subscription, games can be played for free after skipping the ads. Spelling, phonics, punctuation and grammar games are available. They also have stories to read and song lyrics that go along with the other resources.
ABCya is a wonderful website that has reading and math games for children to play. Games can be played for free, but a subscription is available.
Epic is another favorite read-aloud website. There are so many books to choose from. The site used to have unlimited access for free, unfortunately this has changed. The basic plan only allows children to read one book per day, but other plans area available.

National Geographic Kids offers a wide variety of games, reading passages, videos and other resources for students. These engaging nonfiction texts and videos help boost vocabulary and help to build background knowledge.
The internet contains endless resources to support your child's reading success. Take time to search online for other teacher recommended websites. Before allowing children to visit any website, be aware of its content and the advertisements that could possibly be displayed. Technology can be a wonderful tool for supporting your child's success in every subject area, but it's important to know that the resources they are using are safe.
