eMINTS is a research-based professional development program born out of a partnership between the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, Missouri Department of Higher Education, and the University of Missouri in 2000. It was introduced to Baldwin County in 2006. We began training our first cohort of teachers in 2008. Since then, we have trained about 250 teachers and are adding about 50-150 teachers each year. Teachers apply to the program, and once accepted, they complete approximately 200 hours of high-quality professional development over a two-year period of time. The trainings take place about twice a month from 4pm - 8pm at one of our various training locations within the district. In addition to the face-to-face, whole-group trainings, teachers are also assigned a district eMINTS Affiliate Trainer as a mentor. These mentors visit the teachers on a monthly basis to provide additional support throughout their two years of training.
