about me:

My name is Denise Matzke and I am so excited to return to Illini Bluffs & join the 6th grade team. I grew up in Mapleton & attended Illini Bluffs from K-12, graduating in 2004. I relocated to Iowa to attend college, play softball, and major in Elementary Education with Reading and Special Education endorsements. After one year in a school district, I moved back to the area and found a position in daycare. After 7 years as Director, I missed the classroom and found a 4th grade opening at Eastview Elementary in Canton, teaching for 3 years. Returning to IB has been a goal of mine and I am excited for this amazing experience ahead, collaborating with coworkers and creating relationships with new students!!

Most of my 'extra time' revolves around my sons Mace & Miller, traveling to baseball games, visiting zoos, playgrounds, swimming pools & parks.
