Our Youth Development and Leadership Program (YDLP) get youth thinking about how they can become leaders of the future. As a YDLP Leader you have the opportunity to lead out trips, fun activities and games and through service too. Check out the positions below to see where you might fit.
YDLP - CREW Leaders (6 positions) | Team Lead Starts May 28, 2023, Leaders Start June 25, 2023
3 Week Long Program - 2 Sessions
Positions
CREW 1 & 2 | 1 CREW Team Leader, 5 Crew Group Leaders
Prerequisite
There are no prerequisites for this position, but NLS or Bronze Med is an asset. Previous experience in a camp leadership role, including activity leading, is also desirable.
Overview
Provide spiritual and practical leadership and direction to the Crew participants to ensure a safe, yet challenging environment for personal holistic growth.
A successful CREW Staff will effectively communicate with their CREW Team Leader as to what is going on in CREW within the community and daily activities. They will be personable, able to take direction, and able to work in a team effectively. It is best if CREW leaders are able to lead from within, rather than from above. An attitude and a heart submitted to the Spirit of God is essential to being effective in this role.
Expectations
To be an effective and supportive member of the YDLP team
Responsible for leading and supervising small groups of Crew participants in facility projects, general cleaning, and in the dish room.
Ensuring quality, efficiency, and a safe work environment/supervision of all work being done
Using “teachable moments” to talk about servant leadership
Responsible for the creation, development, and maintenance of a healthy community among participants
Assisting in conflict resolution
Enforcing program expectations and rules
First level discipline
Creating an environment that fosters spiritual development among participants and staff
Bible study leading
1 on 1 discipleship meetings with a select number of participants
Providing guidance for times of solitude
Worship leading (depending on gifts and talents)
Activity Leading
Leading activities, as trained and available
Planning and delivering challenges/team-building exercises
Providing structure during the participants “time off” in the program
YDLP - ROOTs Leaders - 4 Week Program (6 positions) | June 25 to Aug. 5, 2023
Positions
2 Position – ROOTs Altitude (hiking trip)
1 Position – ROOTs Velo (bike trip)
2 Position – ROOTs Wild (canoe trip)
1 Position - ROOTs River (kayak trip)
Prerequisites
Previous experience in a camp leadership role - and more specifically, experience in YDLP - are strong assets.
Roots Wild Leader: NLS, First Aid, and moving water qualifications are required, as well as experience in leading canoe trips.
Roots Altitude Leader: Experience in leading trips. NLS, Bronze Med, and First Aid are all valuable assets but not strictly required.
Roots Vélo Leader: Experience in bike tripping is an asset but not strictly required.
Roots River Leader: Experience in leading trips required. NLS, Bronze Med, and First Aid are all valuable assets but not strictly required.
Overview
Give positive spiritual and practical leadership to the Roots participants providing structure and support for success and personal holistic growth. Roots leaders will work closely with the YDLP coordinator in the development of the curriculum and execution of the schedule.
A successful ROOTs staff will effectively communicate with their team and the YDLP Coordinator concerning what is going on within the ROOTs community and the staff team. ROOTs staff need to be able to lead others, teach others, and resolve conflict. They will be personable, able to give direction, and able to both lead and work in a team. An attitude and a heart submitted to the Spirit of God is essential to being effective in this role.

Responsible for leading and supervising Roots participants in all aspects of the program.
Responsible for delivering the overall curriculum, maintaining the smooth running of the schedule and meeting the objectives of the program.
Work with the out-tripping team to ensure a safe, yet challenging experience on all out-trips.
Responsible for the creation, development and maintenance of a healthy community among participants.
Helping the individual to grow holistically through feedback and 1 on 1s
Working with the camp pastoral staff for any mental and spiritual health issues
Planning and preparing sessions concerning leadership, biblical teaching, and other topics for the program
Coordinate with the main camp scheduler/YDLP Coordinator concerning camp activities
Working with the community representatives before and during the day camp portion of the schedule.
