Adult will give 2 words. Child will give "Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down" if the 2 words rhyme. Example: "dog, cup" Child gives thumbs down. Repeat with pairs of words.
Adult will give 2 words that rhyme. Child will extended the pattern. Example: "frog, log". child says "dog". Repeat with other examples
Sentences: Give your child a short sentence, and have your child repeat the sentence. Also have your child count out the words in your sentence. Example: I rode my bike.
Sort objects in your home based on the number of syllables in each word. Syllables are parts in a word, your child may clap or count syllables. Make a list or draw a picture of the objects that have 1, 2, 3, or even 4 syllables!
First Sound: Example: What is the first sound you hear in bat? Your child should say the B sound /b/
Have your child HOP out Phonemes (Sounds) in a word! You may set up objects (maybe paper plates) and have your child stretch out a word. Example: Rock: Your child will say the sounds R (hop) O (hop) K (hop).
Sounds (various positions)
Give your child up to 3 words (lock, light, love), and see if your child can give the first sound in the words. Your child should give the L sound. Repeat with other words!
Give your child up to three words (bite, must, tight), and see if your child can give the final sound in the words. Your child should give the T sound. Repeat with other words!
Middle Sounds: (hope, wrote, soap). Your child should give the O sound. Repeat with other words!
