Have your child sort items into 2, 3, or 4 different containers based on color, size, or function. You can use any household items (socks, pencils, crayons, buttons, etc.)
Have your child tell you things that you can tastes, touch, see, smell, and hear. Have them then sort items based on these categories.
Have your child help you match socks! This is a perfect at home matching and sorting activity.
After coming home from the grocery store, have your child help you put the groceries away. Ask what would go in a cabinet verses the refrigerator. Make it fun!
