A total solar eclipse is headed towards Massachusetts on Monday, April 8 and
WMS science teachers are inviting you to a viewing party after school!
This event will run from 2:00pm - 3:45pm.
While no location in Massachusetts will experience totality, some parts of the state will see over 95% coverage of the sun if weather permits. This phenomenon will not occur in MA again until 2044 (yikes...you'll be in your 30s and watching with your own children!), so plan to attend.
The cost is $5 per person and includes solar viewing glasses, snack, and activities. Sign-up is on the Student Activities site. Ask your science teacher for details.
Students must arrange for a ride home at 3:45 PM.
If it is overcast or raining, the event will be cancelled and you'll have to wait 20 years!
NOTE: looking directly at a solar eclipse is very dangerous and could damage your eyes without appropriate protective eyewear. All WMS students will receive a pair of solar viewing glasses whether they attend the event or not.
