Middle School

Dear Middle School Families,

As a result of the current COVID-19 outbreak in our area, we have created a series of online supplemental engagement activities for our students. We are committed to supporting our students both academically and socially during the time we are out of school. These activities were created with the goal to provide our students with the ability to be engaged and supported during their time away from school.

WMS and GM Middle School teachers will be providing engagement activities through the use of PlusPortals and the Google Classroom platforms. We recognize that these activities can’t replace the teaching and learning our students would receive during normal school conditions. Our staff has prepared online resources for our students that focus on previously taught content. These activities will not introduce new or future topics, but rather continue the work of the teachers up until the school closure. Updated online activities will be provided to our students beginning on March 18, 2020

As we navigate through these uncertain times, please know that we continue to plan for academic engagement. We will communicate updated resources as they are developed. Middle School teachers have worked to collaboratively create a diverse set of resources that will foster academic engagement at home. Our teachers have also created learning activities and these will be shared through Google Classroom and the Portals. We encourage you to set aside blocks of time each day for academic engagement, and, to the best of your ability, stay consistent with these blocks of time for as long as we're out of school. In addition to the academic engagement work, we hope our students take additional time for other activities that include non-computer based activities such as board games, fitness games, family cooking/baking, performance & creative arts.

Teachers will be sharing information with you primarily through the portals, but can also include tools that we have used during this school year. For some this may be through Remind, and Google Classroom.
