The Curriculum is changing in Wales and this change will come into effect in September 2022.
Ysgol Cei Newydd have worked with other schools within the cluster area in order to create an exciting new Curriculum that puts our children and our area into focus.
We are delighted to be able to share with you the foundations and aspirations for all pupils at Ysgol Cei Newydd, and our mission statement, vision and curriculum goals have been created in partnership and are owned by our children, staff, governors and parents.
Our school is united. Our school family is driven towards creating a happy, homely and supportive environment together.
We believe our school is a safe and inclusive community where all children have the inherent right to learn. We are committed to working together to provide an inspiring and challenging curriculum ensuring that each individual is valued, thriving and fulfilling their potential.
At the core of our curriculum is our commitment of developing a positive mindset and positive relationships based on mutual trust with support for everyone to achieve and succeed in life.
We have high expectations in terms of both standards and effort but equally kindness, honesty and respect.
Our curriculum will develop independent and collaborative skills and promote moral development enabling our pupils to become independent and confident in their own abilities. They will have confidence to give things a try and not be defeated by mistakes but to adapt and learn from them.
Our culture, heritage and history as Welsh citizens is at the heart of the curriculum and our aim is to ensure that all our pupils take pride in their ability to speak the language. We will always be a proud and active hub of the Welsh community.
We aim to promote the importance of a healthy lifestyle, highlighting environmental concerns and encouraging our learners to care for their environment. We seek to assist them to develop into responsible and thoughtful citizens who have a strong understanding of the world around them as well as Children's Rights and their personal responsibilities.
Through this relevant and purposeful curriculum, we want to stimulate their curiosity and ignite a passion for learning.
There are many aspects to consider when designing our new curriculum:
The 4 purposes will be at the heart of our new curriculum. They will be the starting point for all experiences, supporting our young people to be:
