Year 7 & 8
As part of the curriculum in year seven and eight, learners rotate around 4 design & technology areas (textiles, woodwork, engineering/product design & food) with subject specialist teachers focusing on practical design and making skills.
The D&T curriculum is split into 5 key areas.
DT1 - allowing learners to explore what it means being a designer and the issues that they need to consider.
DT2 - learners discover their creativity, problem solving & design skills.
DT3 - opportunities for learners to make & experiment with different materials & processes.
DT4 - bringing all this knowledge together to design & make in order to solve particular problems.
DT5 - celebrate the year with design days, industrial collaborations & competitions to develop and discover YDA design talent.

FOOD & NUTRITION
Health & Wellbeing is another key aspect of the New Curriculum for Wales and Food & Nutrition is a prominent part of this; therefore all learners have the opportunity to learn about nutrition and cook regularly.
