We explored maps of our local area.
We measured distances on the map and converted them from cm into actual distances in km using a scale.
We described the direction of villages and towns in relation to Lampeter using the vocabulary of the compass.

Gwyl Diwali / The Hindu festival of Diwali
Stori Rama a Sita
Gwrando a thrafod y stori.
We listened to the story of Rama and Sita and discussed Diwali as a festival of light.
Trafod dathliadau yr wyl a chymharu ein profiadau personol.
We talked about how followers of the Hindu faith celebrate Diwali and made comparisons with our personal experiences of celebrations.

We learned how rangoli patterns are drawn outside homes to welcome guests during the festival of Diwali and had a go at drawing some of our own.
Database / Bas data
We created a database on the distance and population of local towns and villages in relation to Lampeter.
The pupils performed research skills encompassing map work for locating specific towns and villages and then census and internet research for distances and populations.
Once the database was created, we then used the information to perform searches within the database to answer specific questions.
Creating Persuasive Pamphlets
Cross-curricular opportunities allowed for persuasive techniques learnt in English to be applied to our Humanities lesson. We gathered research on our local area of Ceredigion and created some persuasive and informative pamphlets.

Locating
We used maps of Lampeter to locate various towns and villages in preparation for our database.
Measuring
We used rulers to measure distances from Lampeter and also converted to Kilometres.
Recording
We recorded the information in tables ready to create a database.
