In Year 7 and 8 students will develop the mathematical skills, knowledge and confidence to solve real life problems and appreciate maths as a powerful, concise language, full of mystery, wonder and enjoyment. They will leave as confident, creative individuals who are capable of living competently in a digital world. Students will be able to apply their mathematical skills (including number, data handling, shape and space) to real life and local contexts, and become informed and knowledgeable citizens.
Researching and understanding the Key Question: students explore the importance and need of farming in Wales and the external impacts on farming. E.g. food/cereals, the war in Ukraine, climate change, food production output.Â
YFC event planning: Pembrokeshire YFC have asked students to organise the Rally Day and evening activities, given a restricted budget. Students are to investigate various items and plan their budget carefully and use Microsoft Excel and formulas to create a spreadsheet. They are to react to constraints as well and adjust their formulas! Students are then to create a promotion video online to advertise the Rally Day and evening.
