In Year 7 and 8 students will develop the mathematical skills, knowledge and confidence to solve real life problems and appreciate maths as a powerful, concise language, full of mystery, wonder and enjoyment. They will leave as confident, creative individuals who are capable of living competently in a digital world. Students will be able to apply their mathematical skills (including number, data handling, shape and space) to real life and local contexts, and become informed and knowledgeable citizens.
Holiday abroad: Students will investigate how we can use various mathematical skills to plan how we travel abroad and to consider how certain factors like climate change, currency, time zones etc. affect this.
Local holiday: Students will then research how to plan a holiday to our local area of Fishguard. Here students will plan a holiday for a family at the Fishguard Bay hotel and explore North Pembrokeshire. They need to plan activities/restaurants/places to visit, within a certain budget.Â
