Current Context - We are currently working towards achieving the Cymraeg Campus Bronze Award.
Evidence to support the need for the Priority -
The simple objective of the Language Charter is to provide a clear framework, which can be used to promote and increase the use of Welsh by children in a whole school context.
As part of 'Cymraeg 2050', it is a national priority to have a million Welsh speakers by 2050.

Criw Cymraeg shared playground games with the MDSA's for them to play with the children.

Criw Cymraeg members were selected from Year 2 -Year 6. Those who were interested in becoming part of the Criw Cymraeg came forward and each class cast their votes for the members within their class.
Gwasanaeth presentation has been created with the Criw Cymraeg for them to deliver fortnightly assemblies.
Criw Cymraeg hold weekly meetings every Monday during assembly time to discuss the actions for the Bronze Award.
Using the 'Can Sing' website to select Welsh songs for the children to sing during the Criw Cymraeg's Gwasanaeth.

'Hwyl yn y Gymraeg' workshops were provided to all junior classes. The sessions were focused on playground games through using the welsh language. The next step is to arrange a time this half term for members of the Year 5/6 Criw Cymraeg to share the playground games with lunchtime supervisors to encourage them to play and model the welsh language.
A successful Santes Dwynwen morning was held on Friday 24th January for families of the Infant children. This gave parents an opportunity to work with their child as well as developing a positive Welsh ethos.
During a staff meeting, it was noted that we will need to implement Welsh Guided Reading as part of the new curriculum. Tric a Chlic books and resources were shared with staff and it was agreed that this Welsh reading scheme would be the best to use. Our next step is to source these books and Miss Randall (Welsh advisor) has also offered to visit school to model the delivery of the sessions for teachers to observe.
On 12th February, Laura Randall, the Athrawes Bro in Flintshire, delivered a twilight meeting to our teaching assistants to share the Welsh Language Continuum document and offer advice on how they can support the development of the Welsh language with learners. Our next step is to source copies of the Welsh Language Continuum for the Teaching Assistant's to have to hand on a daily basis.
Mrs Monk organised a wonderful School Eisteddfod on Friday 7th March. Pupils came to school wearing Welsh colours. Each class performed a Welsh song and groups of learners recited poetry. The Urdd Art and Design Competition was also shared with children and their families with this year's theme being 'Roots'. We received excellent entries and the Criw Cymraeg selected 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. The winners received a gift in recognition of their efforts and all entries were awarded with a certificate. This assembly was an excellent whole school celebration.
Sioned Foulkes delivered a staff meeting (26th March, 2025) to Junior staff focusing on Welsh planning linked to the class topics.
