There are 2 standing stones in Rhos. They are ancient stones which are shown on the Ordnance Survey Map.
The stone pictured, is obviously sunken and eroded but the position, shape and size of it means it has been erected and not naturally occurring. It is at a 90 degree angle to the land. It is not at the entrance to a field and therefore not likely to be a stone for a gatepost or any other modern function.
According to the book the Stanzas of the Graves (Englynion y Beddau) from the 9th Centry the 2 stones are the remains of 3 grave sites for Cynon, Cynfael and Cynfeli.

Cilybebyll - Ble mae Cilybebyll?
The Cilybebyll estate was established in the 15th Century, that's 600 years ago!
It looked very different to how it looks now. Lots of powerful families have been in charge of the estate and each have made different changes. The estate is currently used as a home and holiday rentals. In it's history it has been a farm, World War 2 Hideout for Churchill's last defence and was once a proud home where great, very wealthy families lived.
The Estate House today.
