We are children aged between 10 and 11 and love to learn!
During the autumn term, we visited Big Pit Coal and History Museum. This has been part of our I-Learn topic of 'Time Detective 4-A-Day' where we looked at the lives of coal miners as well as their families. We've looked at the local geography including the food they ate and the houses they lived in. As we live in a coal mining community, this was an extremely valuable topic as we learnt lots about our local heritage and family. As well as this, we've compared how the coal was used to generate energy and how this was exported all over the world and the types of new energy that is used to power homes. We've looked at what is green and renewable including the importance of recycling!
