We publish the Year 12 Free Choice Form on 11th January 2024. This is when we ask all Year 11 students to make their PROVISIONAL course choices for September 2024 sixth form entry.
So that the school can start to plan for next year, we would like to know which subjects students in Year 11 are likely to select when they get to choose their options in February. All Year 12 students select and follow four courses. So that your son / daughter can have their choice of course combination considered when the school designs the curriculum blocks, students should complete the online provisional choices form by Friday 19th January.

From February Year 11 students can make their FIRM course choices for September 2024 entry. All Year 12 students will follow four Level 3 courses.
It may be appropriate for some MCS students to start with five courses; where this is desirable then a meeting with senior staff will take place for further advice and guidance at Next Steps Evening on 21st March.
Carefully examine the course requirements and course information in the Sixth Form Prospectus and course information. Talk to subject leaders, teachers and other students.
Year 11 ‘Next Steps’ Evening for MCS students – Thursday 21st March 2024
To further support the decisions that all students are making this year we would like to give you and your parents the opportunity to discuss your next pathway options with your form tutor or another nominated teacher on Thursday 21st March. This will allow you to share your current plans for next year, either at MCS or elsewhere, discuss your current progress towards the summer exams and for us to offer any support or advice that you may need.
We publish the Year 12 Free Choice Form on 11th January 2024. This is when we ask all Year 11 students to make their PROVISIONAL course choices for September 2024 sixth form entry.
All Year 11s should submit the electronic Year 12 Free Choice Form by Friday 19th January, if they wish to have their combinations of courses considered when designing the curriculum blocks for next year.
All MCS Year 11 students will also be invited to book for our Next Steps Parents' Evening, on 21st March. Tutors and members of the sixth form staff will be available to advise students and parents on appropriate course choices.
If you have a particular career or University course in mind, you should ensure you are taking suitable subjects for it. Otherwise, it is sensible to choose your subjects according to your strengths and your enjoyment of them. You will be spending a great deal of time on each subject (four-five lessons each week) and it will be easier to maintain motivation throughout the course if you are really interested in the area you are studying.
