Welcome to the 'Nailing the Mathematics skills' sessions.

The purpose of these sessions is to provide a secure foundation to the current Year 6 Mathematics requirements, with a focus on understanding.

As a result, they are a progressive series of developmental sessions.

It is recommended that you go through the sessions in order.

There is a consistent structure to each session, which is presented in a video format :

• relevant mental maths practice

• teaching knowledge and skills by modelling, including the use of appropriate resources

• an opportunity to practise the specific skill / method (pencil and paper, or small whiteboard required)

• an opportunity to apply skills to solve problems (pencil and paper, or small whiteboard required)

• Microsoft Forms assessment / quiz to be completed at the end of each session

• resources for further independent practice
