Learners in year 5 made use of Minecraft for Education to recreate elements that they have been learning about. Learners had to dig trenches, line them with boards and recreate tanks to scale. This reinforced their understanding of the topic and allowed them to evidence their understanding in an engaging way.
Continuing with their WWII topic, learners used their class Micro:bits to send and receive Morse code.
This allowed learners to apply their coding skills in real life by recreating processes from WWII.
Learners coded and decoded messages which were sent with their Micro:bits.
Learners made use of Google Sheets to collate data which compatered temperatures and rainfall between Wales and Jamaica during their Windrush topic.
During Anti-Bullying Week, learners followed the Adobe Live lesson to create a poster with layered images and text. This skill has then been used in other areas of the curriculum to create posters.
Learners made use of Micro:bits to create digital step counters. These were then used during a PE lesson to gather data on learner activity.
This data was then added to a collaborative spreadsheet, which allowed learners to create graphs. In this example, they were able to question an anomaly in the data.
