Below is a video of my teaching partner Jeanne doing a math talk with Kindergartners. She had been doing math talks with her class and I had only been doing Dot Talks. I asked her if I could watch her teach a Math Talk to her class. I had to bring my students to watch and film so we decided to combine our intervention groups to do the lesson. The information is new to my class but familiar with hers. It is sort of a long intro but worked well. I decided to put this up because I think it is a good intro to Math Talks for Kindergarten. Of course you would not introduce all the sentence stems at once or all the Math Strategies. The lesson worked because my students had been using these sentence frames and some of the strategies with Dot Talks. The video is a little shaky at times because I got distracted watching the lesson. Remember is this an amateur video.
