Mr. Mc Comb loves working at Southgate and enjoys his time getting to know students, staff, and families. Before Mr. Mc Comb was a principal, he was a teacher for 15 years. He wanted to support more students outside of his classroom, so he decided to become a principal. His favorite part of the school is the 6th graders. When he first came to Southgate, he was surprised at how big the campus was and how welcoming everyone was.
Mr. Mc Comb's goals for this year are to have more school events, such as field trips, concerts, festivals, celebrations, assemblies, etc. He also wants new and better technology in the classrooms to support teachers and students. Mr. McComb also wants to visit and spend time in all classrooms.

Hello everyone this year for leadership we have a group of girls whose names are Sana Wais, Sana Maqsodi and Makayla Vargas that are assigned to student and teacher concerns. They found a lot of concerns from students and teachers about the bathrooms and playgrounds. Students have been telling us that the bathrooms don't lock, are broken, and are very dirty. Teachers have been telling us that students go in the teachers' bathrooms and that there should be locks on the teacher's bathrooms.
The students in the picture are the students that gave us most of these concerns; their names are Gabriel Argenta and Camila Garcia. The most concerning thing to the students and teachers are the bathrooms, the cafeterias food, and people have stated that the lunches, though good, can improve.

In addition, they sweep all the classes and use a disinfection spray to make sure that all the classes are clean. Furthermore, they take out all the trash and replace trash bags. The janitors go through all the classrooms, if there was a fire or an earthquake to make sure there are no students in the classrooms. Thank you for keeping us safe at Southgate Elementary School!

Putin is mobilizing hundreds of thousands of Russians reservists to fight in Ukraine. White house security adviser Jake Sullivan publicly announced " if Russia uses nuclear weapons on Ukraine there will be serious consequences". Russian civilians protest against Putin's draft. Ukrainian tanks are seen advancing in the area amid the ruins of heavily damaged villages. The roads are littered with what appear to have been hastily abandoned Russian dugouts, with rockets and ammunition left behind. There's also evidence of Russian and militia tanks and military vehicles destroyed or damaged. "The cost of one person in Russia wanting to continue this war will be that all Russian society will be left without a normal economy, without a decent life, and without respect for any human values," President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily address. Russia is using Iranian drones in the war, this is not much of a problem because Ukrainian troops have been shooting them down without a problem, Russia is having problems controlling the drones. NATO can not help Ukraine because Russia is a nuclear power and has more Nukes(6,300) and is the second strongest Country but is in so much debt, 16.4 trillion rubles in debt, or 410.28 billion in U.S dollars. Russia said they have a right to use nuclear weapons if their land gets invaded even though they have invaded 2,317 sq miles of land of Ukraine.
