Grading Policy
2023-2024
Grades are divided into the following categories:
Participation Points: 20% Quizzes/Tests: 35%
Writing Activities: 25% Homework: 20%
Your journal is based on the following criteria:
Call it 日本語ジャーナル。(Nihongo Jaanaru)
You have three choices: 1) 3-ring binder. 2) Composition notebook. 3) Spiral notebook
Make a cover page with your name in Japanese and class period.
The TABLE OF CONTENTS lists any handouts or info you will need later on. You can use stick glue for handouts.
You are to number every page.
Absences/Makeup work: If you are absent, you are not required to make up assignments for that day, i.e., compositions and exit quizzes.
Compositions/Sakubun: are meant to be completed on the day they are assigned. If you do not turn it in on the day it is assigned, you will receive a 0. The same policy applies to Exit Quizzes.
Participation Points: 20%
This category includes all your Class Dojo points. WIthing Class Dojo, I award points for attendance, punctuality, cell phone use, following the seating arrangement, etc. Finally, this category includes your signed syllabus.
Writing Activities: 25%
This category includes your daily compositions, kana and kanji sheets, kana worksheets, kanji packets and journals.
Homework: 20%
This category includes your Quizizz sets.
Quizzes/Tests: 35%
This category includes all quizzes, tests, and exit quizzes. Sometimes a Quizizz set will be assigned in class as a quiz and will be assigned to this category.
