Visual and Performing Arts Education

Empowering EVERY child in Hayward through the ARTS

The Hayward Unified School District is committed to arts education for all students. Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) refers to artistic disciplines such as visual arts, dance, theater, digital arts, vocal and instrumental arts. The goal of the VAPA Master Plan is that students in grades TK - 12 receive high-quality, standards-based instruction in one or more of the art disciplines during the school day.

"Learning through the arts reinforces critical academic skills in reading, language arts and math, and provides students with the skills to creatively solve problems."-Michelle Obama
