Welcome to my science website!

Here, I will share some of the things that I am learning in 8th grade science.

Our monthly goals will also be described. The goal for August and September was curiosity. Activities that we did for this were Wonder Journals, Hungry Hungry Sphero challenge, water quality testing, evaluating article authenticity, cicada lab, and microscopy lab. My favorite was the cicada lab because I liked learning about them.

Updates for October, November, and December

In the past three months, we have done many projects,  investigations, edc's and more. Some things we have done are: water quality testing, tectonic plates sketch notes, tectonic plates building challenges, notes, quizzes, and the Quakefeed app. The most recent one is the tectonic plates building challenge. We had to build a building that would withstand an earthquake and I really enjoyed it. But, the things I enjoy the most and help the most are taking notes (sketchnotes and on paper). The hexagonal activities help me remember the words, but not so much what they mean, so it's not as effective as taking notes. Overall, I definitely  prefer some over others, but most of them are effective enough!

Updates for January, February, and March

We did a lot of different things in these past three months. Some things we did include: building a rocket launcher, science in the GIFS, and an experiment.  The most recent one is the science in the GIFS where we observed multiple GIFS and explained how science relates to them, mostly force and motion. My favorite was the experiment. For this experiment we had a tiny container filled with water with a lid on top and we dropped different amounts of AlkaSeltzer to see if it affects how high the lid will travel when it pops off. The last example I have is the rocket launcher. We  had to build a rocket launcher that had to shoot a paper ball. Although we did fail it was still super fun!
