We run every Saturday at 6:00 a.m. from the Huntsville Downtown Southside Square. See parking info at bottom of page.
The HTC Saturday Long Runs (HTC SLR) are free and open to all. You do not have to be a member of HTC.
What is a long run? A long run is very individual. We want you to join us whether you're training for a 5K/10K, a half, a marathon, or more. We can't have every distance, but we try to accommodate. We will always have 3, 5, 8, and 10 mile distance choices.
Our free Rocket City Marathon training program starts on Monday August 11 (our first group run is Saturday Aug 16). Click here for the plan.
We have water at the start/finish.
Follow the HTC SLR on Facebook.
Please complete the once per year free registration at this link: https://runsignup.com/Race/AL/Huntsville/HTCSaturdayRuns
Registering via the runsignup.com link above allows us to check in runners and know who is running each Saturday.
Or sign the in person waiver at the run.
The HTC SLR will be canceled for the following reasons.
Threat of lighting during the run.
Cold weather below 20F during the run.
Other dangerous conditions.
Watch for Facebook updates regarding inclimate weather by 5:30am the Saturday morning of affected runs.
Not everyone runs the same speed. We generally have 8-20 runners on a Saturday and most runners are running 5-10 miles. If you need someone to run with, please let us know and we will try some matchmaking. Of course, feel free to bring a running buddy to ensure you have someone at your speed.
We generally have runners at paces from 9-13 minutes per mile.
Optional marathon training will start Aug 16. Click here for the full schedule: Marathon Training.
We repeat routes on a rotation. Choose the correct route based on which Saturday of the month we are on (1st, 2nd, 3rd,...).
Our courses are designed to stay together across distances as long as possible. The 3-mile courses stay with the longer courses for the first 1.5-ish miles. The 5, 8, and 10-mile courses are the same for the first 5 miles. The 8-mile course splits off from the 10-mile course between miles 6 and 7.
The 5 mile routes are a common first 5 miles of the 8 and 10-mile routes. We all loop back to the start at mile 5.
