The AVID binder is an organizational tool to help students maintain notes and school work in one place. The Three Ring binder should include dividers for each class, notes and worksheets for each class within the dividers, a pencil pouch with pen, pencils, and other required supplies, and notebook paper.

Creating goals allows learners to achieve the desired result and gives them a purpose to work towards. AVID uses SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound) goals that motivate learners toward reaching accomplishment.
To Do List: Sticky Notes
Have students create a “To Do” list on a sticky note(s). Make sure to have them reference it and cross things off when the task is completed.
Backwards Mapping
Have students take a major task (large project or massive test), and plan how they will break that task into smaller tasks in their agendas by starting with the due date and working backward.
