We learned in BIIG that every culture eats bread or rice. We even got to try some really yummy types of bread from around the world! We were so inspired that we made our own kind of bread: a cracker!
You can make them at home!
Recipe:
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cup flour (all-purpose or whole wheat)
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp smoked paprika regular paprika works as well
4 T butter
1/4 cup water
1 T honey (local, if you can get it!)
Salt to sprinkle on top
Optional: herbs to mix in
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Measure dry ingredients into a medium mixing bowl.
With a pastry cutter (or two knives) cut in butter until mixture forms pea-sized clumps.
Use your Tablespoon to make a little well in the dough and pour in honey. Add water and stir. Once ingredients are combined, knead with your hands to form a ball.
Place the ball on a piece of parchment paper and roll it out with a rolling pin until it is ⅛” thick. Use a pizza cutter or knife to cut into cracker shapes.
Sprinkle the crackers with salt and use a fork to poke little holes in each one.
Put the parchment paper on a baking sheet and bake for 10 minutes.
Enjoy!
