Why is culture important?
In trying to answer this question, the Teal class studied different cultures around the world, and found that while each culture is unique, each are composed of similar elements: Values/Religion, Language, Food, Clothing, Entertainment, and Holidays/Celebrations. Inspired by the cultures they studied, they wound up creating their own country.
Don't worry. We're friendly!

We believe in happiness, nature, everyone having what they need, music, and flexibility. We believe it’s ok to like different things. We put our values in our national anthem and on our flag.
We were inspired by India where they have a flag with a meaning.
We believe that each letter should have one sound. We believe names can be words.
We were inspired by Serbia where they speak a language that has one letter for one sound. Also, in Jamaica they have a doll that teaches language, which inspired us because it shows that Jamaicans want to preserve their language.
We believe that food should be local, sustainable, and delicious. We also believe that food is more fun when it comes with a prize. We know that people all around the world eat different kinds of bread.
We were inspired by Italy where they have local food and tasty food. They have delicious pizza and we eat pizza on Fridays at HLS too! We were also inspired by the USA because you can buy BEAR fruit rolls there that come with trading cards. You can collect them all! We were also inspired by all the breads from different cultures that we ate in BIIG.
We believe that clothing should be comfortable and that we should dress for the weather. People should wear what they like and not let other people tell them what to wear.
We were inspired by Ireland and HLS where they dress for the weather because the weather changes quickly. At HLS, we are outside a lot!
We believe that entertainment should be somewhat fun, that spending time outside is fun, and that everybody should play fair.
We were inspired by Scotland where they have the Highland Games.
We believe we should celebrate our founding because we are proud of who we are! We are celebrating it on exhibition day so our families can learn all about our unique country.
We were inspired by the USA where they celebrate their founding on the 4th of July.
Please rise for our National Anthem.
