Function:
To produce sex cells that are necessary to produce offspring
Sexual Reproduction:
Two parent cells with two sets of DNA (each have 23 chromosomes) join to create an offspring.
Offspring are different from the parents and each other (diversity of species)
Sex cells from a male and female join together to create a zygote.
Male sex cells - sperm
Female sex cells - egg
Sex cells have 23 chromosomes, all other cells have 46.
The offspring gets 23 chromosomes from each parent.
