Function:
- To produce sex cells that are necessary to produce offspring
Sexual Reproduction:
- Two parent cells with two sets of DNA (each have 23 chromosomes) join to create an offspring.
- Offspring are different from the parents and each other (diversity of species)
- Sex cells from a male and female join together to create a zygote.
- Male sex cells - sperm
- Female sex cells - egg
- Sex cells have 23 chromosomes, all other cells have 46.
- The offspring gets 23 chromosomes from each parent.
