MISSION
The Rising Scholars service is dedicated to fostering a vibrant learning community that unites knowledgeable guidance staff and academically curious students. Through small, selective cohorts, we cultivate close relationships between students and staff, nurturing the next generation of citizen-scholars.
Our service emphasizes growth-mindset, hands-on knowledge, intellectual curiosity, and realistic ambitious pursuits. We are committed to advancing a diverse, inclusive, and equitable environment where every member has the opportunity and support to thrive, and embark on a purposeful life and career.
The service will be recognized as a leader in the county in preparing the next generation of solution- oriented, critical, and creative thinkers with the knowledge, skills, abilities, and commitment to maximize their unique potential and have a positive impact on the world around them.
Rising Scholars is a service provided to students who plan to attend a highly selective university. In the spirit of Hudson Area Schools' motto, "Your Path, Our Mission", Rising Scholars customizes the support these students receive to help prepare them for their academic and/ or professional goals by connecting students to opportunities, exposing them to beneficial life experiences, and navigating collegiate expectations.
Rising Scholars is committed to help students develop their ability to think critically and to communicate well in a variety of contexts. It creates a collaborative learning community that emphasizes active learning, intellectual exploration, and civic engagement to provide motivated, high-achieving students unique opportunities to further discover more about themselves in relation to their communities beyond the core academic curriculum.
The Director of Educational Outreach (DEO) is dedicated to facilitating the academic, social, and emotional growth of each student connected to the service. The DEO is to maximize student success by counseling students, meeting with families, consulting with staff, and integrating the school's guidance workshops into the instructional program. The DEO provides a supportive environment to diverse student cohorts, while serving as the liaison for numerous resources within the school, such as staff advisors for school clubs, and outside of the district, such as post-secondary institution advisors and professional experts in various career fields. Additionally, the DEO coordinates unique life learning experiences for students through cultural activities, service and volunteer opportunities, and summer programming.
Where there is something to learn, I will explore.
Where there is a new voice, I will listen.
Where there is a need, I will help.
Where there is fault, I will grow.
