April 5th was the official start of the Steinert Varsity Softball season. The Steinert Varsity Softball team made waves this season with a multitude of wins on and off Steinert’s campus. They started off their season off with a bang by winning their home opener against Hopewell. Captains Addison Hassan, Katie Simonka, and Gia DiMeglio have led the Spartans to many victories this season. There are always ups and downs with every season, but the girls have remained hopeful and willing to try.
Head Coach Jennifer Melker had great hopes during the beginning of the season, “Our expectations and our standards are quite high, and our players know that. I'm very proud of the team's success the last couple of seasons. However it is time to turn the page and let our next chapter begin. This week we’re looking forward to getting things started. The returners need to let go of any expectations they may have and just let loose a little for the start of a new season. We have a tremendous amount of talent returning from last season, and we are blessed to have young new experienced players joining our program.”
With such great hopes for the season, it is no wonder the young ladies of the Steinert Softball Team have made some great waves in the MCT softball division. The current record is 18 wins and 4 losses. The Spartan community is excited for what they have to come and what they have already accomplished. Well Done Ladies!
