The cold didn't stop the winter track team from having a wonderful season! Winter track athletes bundled up and faced the cold as they ran outside and inside during the winter. Many athletes beat personal bests and competed at high level meets.
Ms. Furch, the coach, applauded the team and their hard work. She said, “Throughout the season, the team exhibited an unwavering commitment to excellence, with athletes consistently achieving personal bests meet after meet. This dedication and drive propelled the team to remarkable successes in various events”.
Few winter athletes made it to the NJSIAA Group Championships, Hailie Zimmerman, Anaiss Matos, Max Kostin, Tyler Carocci, and Lisette Zamichieli. Anaiss Matos competed in two events, high jump and the 55 meter dash, Hailie Zimmerman competed in the 55m hurdles, Lisette Zamichieli and Max Kostin competed in the 800m run and Tyler Carocci competed in shot put. Ms Furch described the dedication of these athletes and their commitment to the sport, “These athletes competed at such a high level with some of the best track athletes in the state. Their dedication to the program was displayed throughout the season but their competitive drive and hard work allowed them to qualify and race in one of the biggest meets of the year”.
The winter track athletes had an amazing season due to their commitment, especially in the cold, to their sport. It is exciting to see where these athletes go next as they are a very talented group!
Many of the winter track athletes are continuing their track careers during the spring track season, which started on March 14th. Not only did many winter track athletes return, so did many others that are looking to compete during the spring. Spring track has many events including, sprinting, distance, long jump, high jump, pole vaulting and throwing. The team will be competing in various meets including their Senior Day tri-meet on April 16th. There are many talented athletes this spring, it is exciting to see what they are able to accomplish this season!
