The Steinert Girls Varsity Field Hockey team has been hard at work for the past two months, putting in heavy effort to perfect their performance. They have improved tremendously since preseason, coming to form an impressive lineup. The girls have fought hard and held their own while facing difficult teams like Robbinsville, Stuart Day School, and Notre Dame. They have showcased their dominance in games consisting of Ewing, Nottingham, and Hamilton High West.
The SGVFH team has a diverse set of skill levels. With a mixed range of talent, the team is built of confident upperclassmen and numerous underclassmen that hold experience with the sport. Head Coach LaMontagne when asked about her team said, “This season we show a lot of promise because we have a lot of returning players with their wisdom, along with incoming players that are young with experience so we’re setting ourselves up for a productive future of the program”. The team consists of freshmen like Ella Salzano, Alyeia O’Neal, Gia Graziano, Bella Coniglio, and Mackenzie Bendas, sophomore Jada Oczkowski, juniors Bailee D’Apolito, Gia Dimeglio, Gianna Ragazzo, and Elisa Salzano, and seniors Sabrina Beckman, Amber Dewitt, Sarah Figel, Ali Longo, Nabiha Rupani, Haley Sangillo, Sam Tarangioli, Jolea Terman, and Adrianna Truelove.
Through the duration of this season, goals were scored by: Gia Dimeglio, Adrianna Truelove, Ella Salzano, Jolea Terman, Bailee D’Apolito, and Gia Graziano. Defensively key players of this team are Ali Longo, Amber Dewitt, Sabrina Beckman, Haley Sangillo, and Sarah Figel, and the much appreciated goalies: Nabiha Rupani and Jada Oczkowski. Oczkowski has a total of 50 saves and Rupani has a total of 32 saves. The captains leading this team consist of Amber Dewitt, Adrianna Truelove, and Jolea Terman. When asked about the season, captain Adrianna Truelove said, “This season has been full of hard fought battles, showing the drive of the team. Though we have played tough opponents, our grit and determination has allowed us to succeed both on and off the field”.
