This year's cross country team did not fail to make it a good season! Way to go Steinert XC! All of the hard work put in by the runners led up to the The CVC Divisional Meet. The meet happened, despite the rainy weather, and Steinert runners were able to compete at a high level. They did not let a little bit of rain take away their sunshine this meet! Male runners Anthony Zamichieli, Max Kostin, Adam Szpakowski, Jayden Nollie, Nihar Kolochalama, Nate Aquirre, and Cole Goldenbaum were able to move on to MCT Championships and State Sectionals with times between 18:24 and 20:52.3. Female runners Lisette Zamichieli, Keira Kildea, Selin Yilmaz, Anna Smithson, Nicole Kirn, and Gwen Reinecke also made the championship meets with times from 19:35.2 to 25:59.8. What an astounding job done from these runners!
Junior varsity and freshman team members gave a tremendous showing for their invitational meet at Robbinsville High School. This meet was the last one of the season for non-varsity runners, and it can be assured that the team put in so much effort to make the end of their season count. On top of Steinert’s last celebratory meet, there was one freshman who stood out in this meet. Isabella Cisney was rewarded a beautiful shining medal for her wonderful achievement of twelfth place with a time of 30:59 in the freshman girls race!
The last official meet for Steinerts XC Varsity Team was held at Thompson Park known as Sectionals. As if making it to Sectionals wasn’t already awesome enough, Steinerts runners performed an amazing run before throwing in the towel. Lisette Zamichielli also made a jaw dropping appearance with a time of 20:37, tenth place, and a shining medal. This is Lisette's third medal of the season in only her freshman year! A huge congratulations to her for such a big achievement! She then moved on to the Group Meet, where she finished very respectfully in the middle of the pack. What a great result to her freshman year!
The cross country team also did some fundraising and team building this fall. On October 8th, which was the coldest day of October, Steinert’s Cross Country Team held a car wash from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Despite the frigid temps, this fundraiser was a huge success, and contributed $600 towards XC members and their planned banquet celebration!
