The Steinert High School Step Team is a team of girls from all different grades, backgrounds, and skill levels. No matter when we joined or how talented we were, we are all on the same team, together. We are one big family that grows every year.

This year the team consists of 15 girls: freshman, Priscilla Rogers; sophomore, Navaeh Washington-Irizarry; juniors, Azura Hilton, Brianna Volpicella, Celine Asari, Christina Weising, Ella Calvani, Kendall Bernick; and seven seniors, Janiya McCants, Lesley Nunez, Ludnie Lubin, Martina Lucci, Ronah Wanley, Shanya Tucker, and Veronica Mikhail. Our two captains this year are Veronica and Martina, who are doing such an amazing job after only having a few practices. Last year our captains were Lydia and Nicia, they did a wonderful job with the team, and Veronica and Martina are already doing such great things that will help the team in the years to come.

This year we hosted tryouts for anyone who thought about joining, which was different from previous years but went great. We will be performing at Pep Rally this year as well as the boys and girls basketball games. The step team is a beautiful, loving, and accepting environment to be in and we can’t wait to see more new faces next year!
