Impact of Covid Pandemic on Progress of Learners
Staff across the school have always had high expectations of learners and a strong focus on ensuring that all children make at least good progress in all aspects of their learning. As a result, there has always been a consistent track record of ensuring that learners at the school make very strong progress over time. Timetables and interventions have always been carefully planned to ensure that every opportunity is maximised for learning. However, it is important to acknowledge that the Covid pandemic and subsequent lockdowns has caused a significant disruption to learning across the school. Although the drive for ensuring our children make excellent progress has not waivered, it is important to note that it may take longer than we would usually expect for learners to make the progress that they need to, in readiness for secondary education. The school has shared progress in relation to children progressing by one outcome in Foundation Phase and two sub levels in KS2, with an understanding that it has not been an ordinary year so we could not expect as many children to achieve as they would do in an ordinary year without such significant disruptions but this did not deter them from aiming high.
On entry back to school after lockdowns, baseline data was established and data was tracked very closely across the year. The data overall has been shared with the full governing body and it is clear that there is strong progress overall across the school.
