DCF's Children's System of Care (CSOC), formerly the Division of Child Behavioral Health Services, serves children and adolescents with emotional and behavioral health care challenges and their families; children with developmental and intellectual disabilities and their families; and, children with substance use challenges and their families. CSOC is committed to providing services based on the needs of the child and family in a family-centered, community-based environment.

DIAL 988 TO GET HELP WITH MENTAL HEALTH A 3-digit phone number — 988 launched in July to help connect people in crisis with suicide prevention and mental health counselors nationwide.

MENTAL HEALTH:

NJ Mental Health Cares, the state's behavioral health information and referral service, will now also offer help to people dealing with anxiety and worry related to the coronavirus outbreak. New Jerseyans can call 1-866-202-HELP (4357) for free, confidential support. NJ Mental Health Cares will be answered from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week by live trained specialists.

The Mental Health Association in New Jersey’s NJMentalHealthCares Helpline offers free, anonymous online mental health screenings in cooperation with Mental Health America. Self-assessments are available for depression, anxiety, substance abuse, PTSD and bipolar disorder, as well as screens for youth and parents.

    • Customers needing to file for unemployment insurance or other benefits are urged to apply online at MyUnemployment.nj.gov, or MyLeaveBenefits.nj.gov. Filing online is easy, and will ensure claims can be processed in the fastest way possible.

    • Before applying, customers are encouraged to visit our website at nj.gov/labor to determine whether they are eligible to apply for unemployment, temporary disability, family leave, or workers' compensation. An easy-to-read chart will guide customers through the process.

  5. Don't Go Hungry, Get Help 2-1-1

    • Many New Jersey residents with low income, as well as those who have just been through a life-altering event that has weakened their financial resources are in need of assistance. Don't go hungry. There are programs designed to build a more secure and sustainable future for you and your family, and community soup kitchens and food pantries throughout the state that can offer immediate help.

What is NJ SNAP?

NJ SNAP is the nutrition assistance program to help low-income individuals and families buy the groceries needed to eat healthy. Sometimes people feel they shouldn’t need help putting food on the table, but sometimes making ends meet is a struggle.
