This is a full-year, double-period course (a unique offering at the high school!) Students enrolled in the Education and Training course learn a variety of topics: introduction to the education field and careers, child growth and development, classroom management, child abuse and neglect, guiding behavior, nutrition for children, and teaching methods for elementary and preschool classrooms.
The course is taught in a hands-on way, utilizing field experiences, lab activities, guest speakers, and cooperative learning activities to teach content. Students should expect to work together in groups often.
The full curriculum for this course can be found here.
Juniors and seniors with good behavioral and academic standing are eligible to participate in the class.
