About shoes

What we run in

Road running shoes Common road running shoes are best for most cross country athletes.

Lightweight trainers These shoes are lighter and more flexible for intermediate athletes.

Racing flats. These are very light weight and have very thin soles. For advanced runners.

Spikes Both cross country and track athletes wear spikes when acceleration or traction is an issue. Not for new athletes.

What we don't run in

Thick/heavy shoes These are comfortable but not appropriate for cross country or track athletes.

Expensive shoes. More expensive shoes will not make you faster. $50-$120 is all you need to spend.

Minimalist shoes Certain runners like these but will cause you injury if not properly trained for.

"Running style" shoes Beware of shoes that have the look of road running shoes by lack the stabliity and durability that runners need.
