Meet the teacher

Getting to know Mrs. Moore

I have always wanted to be a teacher from the time that I can remember. I used to play in my room, with notebook paper and my teacher manuals, otherwise known as my Sesame Street books. I would put my dolls and stuffed animals in rows and give each one a worksheet and then when would start our lesson. Man, how times have changed, now my seating arrangement is rarely in rows and we use technology more than I think my dolls and bears could have.

I graduated from Fox High School in 1997 and started Truman State University. I loved every minute of college and learned a ton of things about myself and life in my time there. I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor's Degree in History, then in 2002 with my Master's Degree in Education. I was hired in the summer of 2002 by Hillsboro R-3 School District to begin my career. Since then I have remained a 6th-grade teacher and I couldn't imagine a different life. I went back to school to gain more knowledge in technology use in the classroom and in 2018 I graduated from MoBap with my Masters in Educational Technology. I love teaching 6th graders, they are the best mix of elementary and junior high!

Though school keeps me busy, so does my family. I have two beautiful children, Abigail, 12, and Matthew, 9, and a great husband who also teaches here at the High School. My husband and I have been married for 14 years and couldn't be happier. My children are actively involved in everything they can find to join. My daughter loves to sing and play teacher, not surprising since she has spent a majority of her childhood in a classroom. She is now entering the Jr High and I have a feeling my life is going to just get busier as she wants to be involved in many different clubs and sports. My son loves all types of sports and if could play in them all - he would! My life is full of fun, energetic children, some that I get to see every day of their lives, and some that I only get to spend 9 months with, but they all teach me something every day and for that, I am truly blessed.
