PHYSICAL EDUCATION (ADF, IGD-JA)

Physical Education classes generally meet for 45 minutes. Each student is expected to participate in all activities unless a note has been sent for Medical Reasons. In order for students to participate safely, they must wear tennis shoes with non-marking soles during P.E. Clothing should be suitable for exercise and play. If your daughter prefers to wear a skirt or dress, please remind her to wear shorts underneath.

Excuses for P.E. – Hillsboro Primary and Hillsboro Elementary have adopted the suggested policy of the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In the event a student is unable to participate in P.E. class, a note (no phone calls) should be sent to the P.E. teacher stating the ailment and those activities the student CAN DO. If they need to be excluded from any activity for more than one week, a written note from a licensed physician explaining the duration and limitation on activities is necessary. A modified physical education program may be provided during this time. Most of the time, there are activities they are able to do –even if it is walking. Alternate assignments may be given, not as a punishment, but rather, an alternate learning experience for the student. In addition, students who are excused from P.E. for medical reasons or parent request will not be allowed to participate in recess, and will be held within the building during recess time.
