HOMEWORK (0%): Students will be given homework assignments to practice their skills individually on a DAILY basis. These assignments are crucial for students to expand their understanding, and will give both of us an opportunity to check their comprehension of material before moving on. It is very important that the students attempt and give serious thought to all problems, as our difficult content is BEST LEARNED through this individual practice. Homework assignments will be discussed and checked the next day in class, giving students the opportunity to ask questions to further increase their understanding.

QUIZZES (20%): We will have short quizzes SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. The sole purpose of these quizzes is for students to GUAGE THEIR CURRENT UNDERSTANDING AND better understand their MISCONCEPTIONS. These quizzes will be used to determine which concepts each student needs to work on more to MASTER.

SUMMATIVE TESTS (80%): At the end of each chapter of material, we will have a summative test or project where students will be asked to show that they have learned the material, can perform necessary skills, and can apply concepts to solve problems. These tests will be the great MAJORITY of students’ grades each quarter. Students can expect a few summative tests each quarter, and they will be able to retake any test to show later mastery. A COMPREHENSIVE Semester Final Exam will be given EACH SEMESTER.

TEST RETAKE POLICY: Each student has the option to retake each chapter test. Guidelines will be explained in class as needed. Different methods may be used throughout the year based on student need.

BINDER/PARTICIPATION (0%): You must keep your binder organized and everything must be hole-punched, labeled, and put in its proper section. This aides in studying for tests and exams.
