Local 49 is partnering with MNVA to offer the Operating Engineer Pathway for MN high school students.

·Students will be offered semester based online courses for Operating Engineer readiness:

    • Construction Explorations

    • Basic Grade & Construction Math

    • Basic Construction Equipment Fundamentals

    • Basic Maintenance of Mobile Equipment

·Opportunities for students to visit the Local 49 Training Center in Hinckley, MN for hands-on experiences.

·Students will receive credit towards Local 49’s Apprenticeship Program based on number of pathway courses completed. 7.5 hours per course.

·5 articulated credits with North Hennepin Community College for all courses, except Construction Exploration*.

·Students participating in the pathway will take a series of classes that will prepare them to enter the Operating Engineers Apprenticeship program. Students may enroll in 1 or more courses offered.

*Construction Explorations is not offered for articulated credit. All other courses will be offered for articulated credit at NHCC. To earn articulated college credit, students must pass the course with 85% or higher. Upon completion of the course, students will be issued a certificate. Students are responsible for taking the certificate to NHCC at time of enrollment to be given credit for the course on their college transcript.

Students in this pathway will receive hands-on experiences at the IUOE Local 49 Training Center in Hinckley, MN for hands-on experiences.
