Career and College Pathways

Career and college may seem far away, but it is never too early to take that first step and get on the right track. Hillsboro School District is committed to ensuring all students are college- and career-aware, eligible and prepared.

Becoming aware involves early exposure to colleges and careers, interest mapping, guidance lessons and the completion of national standardized tests. It also involves students and parents understanding the requirements for high school graduation as well as entrance requirements for technical or vocational schools, two-year community colleges, four-year public and private colleges, and even the military.

Becoming eligible involves students completing the necessary steps to proceed with their post-high school choice. This includes ensuring they meet entrance requirements, applying for their choice(s) within the deadlines, planning for paying college tuition and/or supporting themselves, and planning the steps needed to achieve their future goal.

Becoming prepared involves gaining the knowledge, skills and work ethic that lead to future success. Students will need a well-rounded education in a wide array of subjects, good study and work habits, and the skills to prepare them for independent living.

At Glencoe, students have the opportunity to take courses in these Career & College Pathways:
