"The Health Sciences Career Cluster orients students to careers that promote health, wellness, and diagnoses as well as treat injuries and diseases. Some of the careers involve working directly with people while others involve research into diseases or collecting and formatting data and information. Work locations are varied and may be in hospitals, medical or dental offices or laboratories, cruise ships, medevac units, sports areas, space centers or within the community." —Oregon Department of Education
We offer eight different Health Sciences courses throughout our pathway. Students can graduate with up to two nationally recognized certifications in Medical Assisting, Phlebotomy Technician, or Pharmacy Technician. They can also earn up to 11 college credits through Oregon Institute of Technology (OIT) and Portland Community College (PCC).
Our students are involved within the Hillsboro area community interning, volunteering and working with healthcare professionals at Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center, Hillsboro Medical Center and Rosewood Retirement Home.
CHS students also attend and compete at the Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) State Leadership Conference every year.
