Monday:
We will finish up the Fork & Beans Survival Lab from last week. Students will use their graphs to work on the post-activity questions about which traits matter. Graph and questions are due tomorrow. If time allows, we will do a series of case studies with organisms and traits. Students will make conclusions about how traits can help organisms survive and reproduce.
Tuesday:
White Board Meeting Wrap-Up. Students will be visually representing their results from the lab. In the whiteboard meeting, they will present and discuss these things:
1. What the answer to the lab question is.
2. How many offspring is "typical" in a year for a Slow Loris' to have? How do you know?
3. Does the lab calculator make sense?
We have a lab quiz tomorrow.
Wednesday:
Lab Quiz. Remember, students can use their lab materials on the lab quiz.
Thursday:
Today, we will introduce the students to our new lesson question - How do different traits occur in a species? We will first look (pun intended) at eye color as an example. Then, we will introduce the lab activity that we will be doing using office supplies to make proteins. Today, we will be focusing on the process involved in making proteins as background knowledge.
Friday: Today we will be doing the Office Supply Proteins Lab Activity. Students will be making proteins using office supplies like paper clips and binder clips. They will then test their proteins for strength and length.
