Monday:
Lab quiz today
Tuesday:
We will go over the quiz briefly.
Today we will be introducing Lesson 4 - Ch-Ch-Changes...
We will be starting a discussion about mutations, as well as natural selection and how it occurs in populations. We will watch an Amoeba Sisters video that describes how natural selection occurs, using frogs as an example.
We will also introduce the Fork & Beans activity for tomorrow.
Wednesday:
Today we will be doing a lab activity similar to our Slow Loris Activity. But in this case, the population of particular traits, if they die, will be removed from the population to show how certain traits become more predominant.
Thursday:
Students will finish their lab activity if they need more time. Then, we will spend time constructing graphs of the data collected and completing the CER. Both of these items are due tomorrow.
Friday:
Students should have their stacked bar graph done today. I will check to see that they are done and we will discuss what parts are common mistakes. In partners, we will analyze the data briefly.
We will also discuss the "plumage" of the forks, spoons and sporks. We will discuss why that number fluctuates, but never has a pattern of becoming predominant. Students will be given time to graph this data. If they don't get done, it will be HW. We will next look at Part D of the lab packet -- students will complete a flow chart related to the lesson question.
Students will be assigned the CE portions of the CER as well for Monday.
