My name is Marcie VanderWall, and I love teaching third grade. My husband and I have three children (two girls and a boy).  We love living in the district where we both teach!  This will be my 25th year teaching.  All except 5 of those years, were in 3rd grade.  The best part of my job is spending time with your children.  My husband is the high school band director and enjoys working with the marching band, jazz band, concert bands, winter guard, drum line, Eagle Claw Band and pep band.  Sometimes I think he’s famous!  

Our oldest daughter attends Ball State University in Indiana.  She is majoring in Graphic Design. She loves colorguard and spins with a World Class group called Pride of Cincinnati.  During the summer, she is a barista at Starbucks and waits tables at Hudsonville Grille.  

Our middle child just graduated from Hudsonville 2 years ago.  She attends Grand Valley State University.  I love having her only a few minutes away from home.    She loves living in an apartment with her friends and experiencing life on her “own”..  She is studying psychology. In her spare time, she waits tables at Uchellos and teaches color guard at Holland High School.

Our youngest is our only boy.   He graduated from Hudsonville a year ago.  He spent his summer framing houses and working with the Hudsonville drumline.   He loves drumming.  He is going to be a sophomore at Michigan State University, studying business.  His dream is to march snare in their drumline! My house seems so quiet this year without the tapping of a drum.
