SEPTEMBER 2025

Hello HHS Families!

I hope you’ve all had a great start to the school year, and a great Labor Day weekend. Full school days are here, and hopefully some slightly cooler weather is  headed our way. I appreciate you taking the time to read through this month’s newsletter from HHS. ESPECIALLY THE FIRST ITEM REGARDING ROAD CONSTRUCTION ALONG 32ND! ⬇️

ROAD CONSTRUCTION ON 32ND AVE BEGINNING MONDAY, SEPT. 8!

We have received information from the City of Hudsonville that road construction on 32nd Ave. between Barry/Allen and New Holland will begin on Monday morning, September 8th. This will most certainly have a significant impact on our students who drive to school and parents who drop off their students. The morning entry into the high school lots and afternoon dismissal will be challenging, and we ask that you review this information carefully so you’re ready for next week. CLICK HERE FOR A MAP (or scroll to the bottom of this page)

32nd Ave. will be down to two lanes as the repairs take place. For this reason, we ask that before school begins, students and families do not turn left into either of the two lots off of 32nd as you approach from the south.

After dismissal, those lots/drives will be right-turn only onto 32nd. Students may seek to use the Allen St. exits to head northbound, or turn right onto 32nd, then another right onto New Holland to make their way to 36th to head north.

Students & families driving TO school in the morning from the south may want to consider an alternate route, staying away from 32nd by using Barry to come from the east.

We will show a brief video to students this week outlining this upcoming construction as well. Thank you in advance for reviewing this information with your students who drive to school. We want to ensure that all make it here and back home safely!

Opt-In for Texts from Hudsonville Public Schools

If you have not done so in the past, please be sure to sign up to receive text messages from the district & Hudsonville High School. Please click here for instructions. If you’re unsure if you’ve already signed up, just give it a try and it will let you know if you’re already in.

ATTENDANCE

Opting in to receiving text messages will help us better communicate with you as quickly as possible, especially in regards to attendance. Please take a moment to read this attendance letter that includes all “back to school” attendance requirements and reminders, and it is pertinent to all HHS students &  families. We believe it is of utmost importance that your student is in attendance and we have quality protocol in place. Thank you for your help with this endeavor.

Advanced Placement (AP) Test Fees

Parents of students enrolled in AP courses this year: be on the lookout for an email from the school regarding payment for spring tests! For planning purposes, know that each exam cost is $99, and the due date will be near the end of October.

Technology Fee

Below is the language for the tech fee that we sent out in August to prepare for our registration week. At this time, there are a significant number of students who have not yet paid the tech fee. We’re asking families to complete this by October 1. Student devices could be disabled if the fee is not paid by the end of September and students will not be able to purchase a homecoming ticket.

For those that are unable or need assistance, please see your assistant principal, guidance counselor, or stop in the main office and speak with one of our secretaries. Also, parents can call the main office at 669-1500.

There is a $25 tech fee for each middle and high school student. See this guide for more information about what that covers and how fees are assessed for breakage and repairs. There are two options for payment:

Parking Permits

Students must have a parking permit to park in the HHS lots. We ask that those be displayed properly in the back windshield. They can be purchased in the main office any time. Beginning Monday, Sept. 15, our security team will be enforcing the permits more stringently, as we will be in the fourth week of school.

Our first Wednesday Teacher Team Time is on September 10, with a 2:20 p.m. dismissal. Students that ride the bus will have options for common spaces monitored by security and support staff to spend the end of the day until buses depart at the normal time. Students who drive or are picked up are free to leave at 2:20.

Early Release is scheduled for Friday, September 26. Dismissal will be at 11:15 a.m.

Homecoming Week: September 15 - September 19

Our fun fall tradition of Homecoming is right around the corner. Our Student Council has been planning since the summer for another great week of excitement and school spirit. We will send out more information about the dance ticket sales (Saturday, Sept. 20, at the North Campus), spirit week, PowerPuff, and all of the fun that takes place that week. Follow us on Instagram @HudsonvilleHS if you haven’t already, there will be plenty of information shared there as well.

HUDSONVILLE EDUCATION FOUNDATION EVENT @GVSU OCTOBER

The Hudsonville Education Foundation has partnered with GVSU for a tailgate and football game event on Saturday, October 18! It will be a BIG game as GVSU takes on Saginaw Valley. Each ticket purchased at gvsulakers.com/hef will send $5 to the foundation. Get your tickets early, this is sure to be a packed rivalry game! These funds have a direct impact on our classrooms, as the HEF fulfills many teacher grants and student scholarships each year. For more information, please visit this site, and check out this promotional video.

It's going to be an awesome September.
