February 2026

Happy February HHS Families! We have the end of trimester two rapidly approaching with final exams on Feb. 25-27, with that Friday the 27th as a half day 11:15am dismissal. Here is the full exam schedule for the high school on those days.

Before we get there though, just a reminder that we have NO SCHOOL on Monday, Feb. 9 and Tuesday, Feb. 10 next week  for Mid-Winter Break. ❄️

Sno-Co Dance 2/13,  9-11pm AFTER Home Basketball
We are hosting an HHS students-only dance after our home basketball games next week Friday. Tickets are $10 and students can choose to dress up, or keep it casual. Should be a fun time, encourage your student to join in the fun! ❄️

Welcome to Our Newest Teacher

We are excited to welcome Julia Pols to our teaching staff! Julia is a 2021 HHS graduate, and earned both a science and English language learning teaching degree from the University of Michigan. Julia will be serving as our multilingual learning  teacher, and her first day here is Friday, Feb. 6.

Spring Testing Schedule Coming Soon

We will send a separate email to families SOON regarding our Spring MME testing schedule at HHS. This is important information for all students and families to be aware of, so thank you for being aware of this schedule. It is especially important for 11th grade students taking the SAT and MSTEP. This year, there will NOT be a “digital learning day”, as that is no longer an avenue allowed by the State of Michigan for us to utilize. However, we’ve got a schedule that we can share the details of very soon. In the meantime, please see the dates below to be aware of, especially if you have an 11th grade student this year!

More detail is to come, but these are the basic dates to be aware of. Thanks for reading!

Upcoming Feb. & March Team Time & Early Release Reminders

New at HHS this Month: School Comfort Dog!

I’m excited to share some very special news with you as we continue to strengthen the supportive, student-centered culture at Hudsonville High School. We have been selected as the second building in the district to welcome a school comfort dog as part of the Hudsonville Hounds Program. Georgetown Elementary has had Roo this school year, and the feedback has been excellent!

We are thrilled to introduce Bodie, a two-year-old Golden Retriever who will soon become a familiar and friendly presence in our building. Bodie’s official start date (with trainer) is February 19, so  students may begin seeing him at school as he completes his training and acclimates to our environment.

Research consistently shows that the presence of comfort dogs in schools can help reduce stress and anxiety, support emotional regulation, and promote overall well-being. At the high school level, this can be especially beneficial during times of academic pressure, social stress, or when students simply need a calming, supportive presence.

Bodie is owned by our aquatics director,  Ian Kobes and will be handled during the school day by our school social worker, Mr. Jeff Tubergen. Jeff will work closely with Bodie to support students individually and in small groups, as well as make Bodie available as needed throughout the school day. Like any staff member, Bodie will have a schedule and clear expectations, ensuring his presence is purposeful, structured, and supportive.

We also want to be mindful and respectful of student needs related to allergies or phobias. These considerations have been carefully addressed in the planning of the Hudsonville Hounds Program. Dog-free zones will be established within the building, allergy protocols will be in place, and Bodie will be groomed regularly to minimize shedding and dander.

HHS is  excited about the positive impact Bodie will have on our school community and look forward to sharing more as his journey here unfolds. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to assistant principal,  Mr. Joe Kessel.

We appreciate  your continued partnership and support. If you're at all interested in supporting this program with a donation, here is a link to an Amazon Wish List for Bodie’s supplies. Thank you!
