If you are a National Honor Society member IN GOOD STANDING, you may wear an NHS collar with your graduation robe.
NHS Collars are the property of HHS and you are allowed to borrow them.
Seniors who have all of their required service hours completed by May 1st, will receive their certificate & collar at the Senior Awards Ceremony.
Anyone who does not have their required service hours completed by May 1 will NOT be recognized at the Senior Awards Night or graduation until those hours are completed & verified.
You will get your collar and certificate of completion after your required service hours are verified.
You will return the collar after the Graduation ceremony before you leave the Commencement Ceremony that night.
You must turn in your collar when picking up your diploma (immediately after the ceremony)
If you would like to purchase a patch to keep and display at your open house or in another way, you may purchase them for $5 from Mrs. Goosen, in room 112, before Graduation day.
General Information about the NHS collars:
If the collar is dirty, you may wash it in COLD water and LAY FLAT or hang on a hanger to dry, do not use the dryer!
You may gently iron the collar to remove any wrinkles and make it look presentable.
Wear your collar with the seams on your shoulders, it will be shorter in the front than in the back.
You might want to pin the collar, from under your gown, to keep it in place and keep it from sliding around on your gown.
The NHS collar goes on first and any then any honor cords you have earned lay on top of the collar.
You can watch the video under "What do I wear?" to see an example of this.
